Employee Data Stolen in BK Technologies Breach

Employee Data Stolen in BK Technologies Breach

BK Technologies Corp, a Florida-based provider of public safety communications solutions, disclosed on Monday that its IT systems were recently compromised by hackers.

In a regulatory filing, the company reported that it detected the intrusion on September 20th. Following the discovery, an immediate investigation was launched, and action was taken to successfully remove the attacker from their systems.

The incident resulted in "minor disruptions" to non-critical systems, and the company stated that overall operations were not affected.

However, the internal investigation revealed that the hackers accessed and stole non-public information from the compromised systems. Specifically, files containing data on current and former employees may have been exfiltrated.

BK Technologies, which specializes in wireless communications equipment for public safety and government agencies, believes the cyberattack will not materially impact its financial condition or operating results. The company also noted that insurance is covering a significant portion of the costs for containment, investigation, and remediation of the breach.

Currently, it is unclear if this was a ransomware attack, as no known group has yet claimed responsibility for the intrusion.
